The album
Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds came out in 1978, and I was captivated by Mike Trimm's design for the martian tripods. Over the years, I drew many of these tripods, and in about 1995 wanted to create an animated version to run alongside the album.
I picked up a copy of Bryce, the 3D CGI landscape and modelling tool, and set to work. I didn't not get very far at the time!
Blueprints
In 2006ish, I got a new copy of Bryce, and having time on my hands, began a new build. Amazingly, by then, Mike Trimm's blueprints were all over the internet! Bonus!! So I had something to work from, rather than the cover art.
I also have the blueprints for the Handling Machine, which is to be a future project.
Anyhoo, armed with something I can measure, I built up a Fighting Machine

In 1977, my Dad took me to see Star Wars. Coming out of the cinema, he introduced me to War of the Worlds. Not long after, the album came out, and I fell in love with the tripedal war machines.

I only built the Tripod - never got around to creating a CGI Ironclad!

The Spirit Of Man
Seems the original didn''t cater for distance - tripods in the distance shouldn't be the same height as foreground ones!
